Burbage Primary School

Welcome

Our School Motto:

‘Building confidence; inspiring achievement’

Our vision:

At Burbage Primary School we want our pupils to grow up as happy and kind young people with empathy for all. We want our school to be a safe and supportive place where children develop resilience and independence. We want to inspire a lifelong love of learning and to nurture individuality. We want all of our children to have self-belief and aspiration, regardless of their background, ability or need. We want there to be a strong partnership between school, families and the wider community. We are all dedicated to working together to achieve this vision for our school.

Welcome from our headteacher: Mr Anthony Tierney

Welcome to the website of our wonderful school.

I hope you are able to find all of the information you require on our website. However, should you wish to ask any questions, or share any thoughts, I will be pleased to arrange a visit or a meeting.

We currently have around 350 children at Burbage, arranged into fourteen classes. We accept 50 children into the Reception cohort each year and whilst we are currently officially ‘full’, please get in touch if you are interested in joining us. We will gladly show you around and discuss admissions options.

I have been the Headteacher at Burbage since September 2015 and I have previous experience in headship at Curbar Primary School and Fairfield Endowed Junior School.

Effective communication is essential. As parents, if you have any concerns or questions, no matter how small, please speak to your child’s class teacher as soon as you are able. Please do not wait until the next parents’ evening if you have a worry – the vast majority of queries can be easily and efficiently resolved if shared early. Please come into school with an open mind and be prepared to discover that your child’s version of events may differ from those of others. We will always listen and do our best to help.

I send home a school newsletter each month in order to share the latest news, dates and messages. Our school website (www.burbage.derbyshire.sch.uk) will be used to provide further information; text messages are used and the school Facebook page (www.facebook.com/burbageprimary) will also be kept up to date. If you have any further suggestions to improve communication between home and school, I will be interested to hear from you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and I look forward to us working together to ensure that our school provides the very best experiences for all of our children.
