Burbage Primary School

Our School's History

History

The original Burbage Primary School was in a small stone building off Leek Road. As the village expanded and numbers of pupils rose, a new school was built on the present site, off Cavendish Avenue, in 1968.

In 2000 Burbage Primary School became a ’Community School’ which is the conventional category for most County schools.

Our school is situated in very pleasant grounds.  We have a main building which houses seven classes and three annexes; two of which each house two infant classes and one which accommodates three junior classes.  The classrooms in the main building have access to large work areas where children are able to pursue practical activities such as cooking, water and sand play, model-making and artwork.  We have a large, spacious hall which is used for assemblies, lunch and P.E.

We would like to find out more about the history of our school.  If you went to Burbage Primary School and have some special memories you would like to share why don’t you email them to us and we could add them to this page.
